Putting the people of Witney First

Information Notice

There are 2 new notices issued by Oxfordshire County Council and properly displayed at the Farm Mill Lane entrance to the Witney Country Park, to extend the Cogges Link Road planning application and discharge the conditions precedent.

We are continuing to investigate the consequences of this and we will provide further information once digested.

The related documentation is available for public review at the West Oxfordshire District Council offices (Elmfield) on the New Yatt Road.

FANTASTIC NEWS – OCC have STOPPED the unlawful work they were carrying out just off the Sainsbury’s roundabout, now if that is not an admission they were in the wrong, then what is?

ALSO

A survey has been conducted by the campaign group where all the candidates in the forthcoming elections were asked 3 specific questions:

1. Are you in favour of CLR?

2. Are you in favour of the SGSR?

Unlawful Works - We Protest

The public will finally be aware that the Farm Mill Lane works are the beginning of the Cogges Link Road. We believe this work is unlawful. Applications to discharge conditions (attached to Planning Permission) must be advertised locally for a minimum of 21 days before they can be approved. No such notification has been made and applications to discharge a number of conditions were only made on April 4th. Planning permission for CLR expired on April 6th! The work currently in progress should be stopped immediately until all the legal requirements are properly satisfied.

Unlawful work at Farm Mill Lane?

OCC commenced work on the CLR at the Farm Mill Lane site adjacent to the Sainsbury's roundabout on the 22nd March 2012. We challenged OCC over the lawfulness of this work as we believed the conditions attached to the planning permission had not been correctly discharged.

Despite challenging OCC on the validity of this work as soon as it commenced,  they continue to work on the site.

The only response we have received to date from OCC was the following letter emailed at 16:47 on 4th April 2012:

12 weeks

We have had confirmation that Mr Stephen Roscoe the inspector at the Public Inquiry has submitted his report to the Planning Inspectorate to be checked before it is submitted to the Secretary of State for Transport, the Rt Hon Justine Greening who will make the final decision. We do not expect to see the inspectors report until the decision is made public and would envisage it will be sometime in the next 12 weeks.

Public Inquiry - FINAL SUBMISSIONS

The 18th and final day of the Cogges Link Road Public Inquiry will be on Wednesday November 30th 2011, starting at 10.00am at The Methodist Church Hall, Witney.

The day will commence with Non-Statutory Objectors submissions, followed by the Statutory Objectors (Mawle Trustees) submission and finishing off with OCC's submission.

This promises to be an interesting day, with all the facts and arguments covered in a single day.

We are keen to attract as many people as possible to attend and show the Inspector that the people of Witney really do NOT want this road built!

A couple of photos from the local media. The serious faces were looking a lot happier on Tuesday morning thanks to all your support.

Many thanks to all those who made the effort to turn out to Eynsham Hall, North Leigh, YOUR efforts have got the venue changed to a far more sensible location where the people of Witney can partake far more easily. Please can you help spread the word regarding the new venue by telling all your friends & neighbours and encouraging them to come along to show their support, even if it is for the odd half hour throughout the hearing days. We have to show the Inspector and Oxfordshire County Council that the people of Witney do not want the Cogges Link Road.

We will be sending out a daily summary of proceedings for those folk that cannot take time off from their work to attend in person. If you are on twitter please follow @witneyfirst for live updates or search for #clr.

Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible tomorrow morning – the press will be there again, so as much support as possible please.
