WODC Public Meeting, 17th October 2012

The hall was indeed packed and WODC acknowledged that they had made the right decision in moving the venue to the larger Langdale Hall. WODC draft Local Plan was introduced by Mr Andrew Tucker and Mr Chris Hargreaves (planning policy manager).

The proposal is for 5,500 homes within the district, between 2011-2029. West Witney (1,000 homes) and East Witney (300 homes) with some other sites taking the total to 1,900.

WODC Meeting

WODC will be having a 'Core Strategy' public meeting at Langdale Hall on Wednesday October 17th at 2pm.

The meeting is to approve the draft local plan to be published for public consultation.

Let's pack the place out and let them know that we're watching them working for us!

NEWSLETTER & POSTER CAMPAIGN

We have now distributed our newsletter/questionnaire to the vast majority of residential and business properties in Witney. There were a very small number we were unable to deliver too as the property was empty and the letterbox sealed, but this accounts for less than 0.5% of the total properties.

Update on Newsletter & Poster

We have now delivered our newsletter and poster to over 2/3rds of the businesses and households in Witney and expect to complete the remaining properties by the middle of next week. The posters are starting to appear in windows and in cars and we have had a very good response to the questionnaire. Over the next couple of weeks we will collate the responses and use this as the basis for lobbying both WODC & OCC.

New Campaign Launch - Go Shore Green

This new campaign is to get Oxfordshire County Council to honour their commitment given at the Public Inquiry, to develop the Shores Green junction with the urgency that is now required. This alone will not solve the traffic issues in Witney and part of this campaign is to highlight the need for the A40 Downs Road junction and improvements at Ducklington Lane and Station Lane which will compliment the Shores Green junction.

We will be delivering a poster and newsletter to every business and domestic premise in Witney.

Our Formal Statement

27 years ago, the then chairman of Witney CPRE, Mr Colin Fowler, began the long campaign to have the Cogges Link Road stopped. The announcement of its demise marks one of the finest days in the long history of our town of Witney, and if Colin were alive today I’m sure he would have been more than delighted.

BREAKING NEWS - RIP CLR

The Secretary of State for Transport has upheld the Inspectors decision, Mr Stephen Roscoe, BENG, MSC, CENG, MICE from the 2011 Public Inquiry and has NOT granted OCC permission to purchase the land required to build the CLR.
