Public Inquiry - FINAL SUBMISSIONS

The 18th and final day of the Cogges Link Road Public Inquiry will be on Wednesday November 30th 2011, starting at 10.00am at The Methodist Church Hall, Witney.

The day will commence with Non-Statutory Objectors submissions, followed by the Statutory Objectors (Mawle Trustees) submission and finishing off with OCC's submission.

This promises to be an interesting day, with all the facts and arguments covered in a single day.

We are keen to attract as many people as possible to attend and show the Inspector that the people of Witney really do NOT want this road built!

Public Inquiry - Daily Update Wednesday

A couple of photos from the local media. The serious faces were looking a lot happier on Tuesday morning thanks to all your support.

Many thanks to all those who made the effort to turn out to Eynsham Hall, North Leigh, YOUR efforts have got the venue changed to a far more sensible location where the people of Witney can partake far more easily. Please can you help spread the word regarding the new venue by telling all your friends & neighbours and encouraging them to come along to show their support, even if it is for the odd half hour throughout the hearing days. We have to show the Inspector and Oxfordshire County Council that the people of Witney do not want the Cogges Link Road.

We will be sending out a daily summary of proceedings for those folk that cannot take time off from their work to attend in person. If you are on twitter please follow @witneyfirst for live updates or search for #clr.

Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible tomorrow morning – the press will be there again, so as much support as possible please.

Cogges Link Road Inquiry Postponed until Thursday 22nd

After a totally farcical morning where the Public Inquiry was adjourned on 3 occasions, firstly because the PA system was not working, followed by the second adjournment as they could not get the general public into the totally inadequate room (seating capacity for only 55 members of the public) and as there was in excess of 150 Witney residents, there was standing room only, and on the 3rd occasion Mr Stephen Roscoe, the inquiry inspector reconvened only to announce the Public Inquiry would be postponed until

10:00 THURSDAY 22nd SEPTEMBER, THE METHODIST CHURCH, HIGH STREET, WITNEY.

PLEASE SHOW YOUR SUPPORT AND COME ALONG – EVEN IF ITS JUST FOR A SHORT TIME – STARTS @ 10:00, due to finish 17:00 daily

Cogges Link Road Public Inquiry Date and Venue announced

Oxfordshire County Council have chosen Eynsham Hall, North Leigh, Witney, OX29 6PN as the venue for the Public Inquiry regarding the compulsory purchase of lands for the Cogges Link Road. The inquiry is due to commence at 10:00 on Tuesday 20th September 2011 and is scheduled to run for 2 weeks.

We do not think that Eynsham Hall, which is 3 miles from Witney and would require a half-mile walk from the bus-stop to the Eynsham Hall entrance, is a suitable venue for a PUBLIC INQUIRY for a road that is proposed to be built in the middle of Witney.

Compulsory Purchase Objections

A huge thank you to all those who wrote such excellent, high quality objections. We're sure that if there were an award for objection letter writing that you would have won the anti link road campaign first prize.

The deadline has now passed but if you did send a letter and haven't forwarded a copy to us please do so.

We wish you all a Happy Christmas and thank you all for your support. The new year will bring another Public Inquiry you are all invited.

We're a group trying to stand up for the people of Witney against some poor decision making in local government. We oppose the building of the Cogges Link road and support protection of our green spaces. We are very concerned about flooding and the impact that intensive building is having.

In general we want to put the interests of the people of Witney ahead of the interests of a small number of businesses and property developers.
