DO YOU/ HAVE YOU USED THE COUNTRY PARK?
Proposals for the CLR would in effect cut the Country Park in two, destroying this well used public space forever. We would like to year from you if you have used the Park could you email us here, telling us: Where they live, how many years you've been using the Park and what for e.g. dog walking, recreational activities etc.
WITNEY TOWN COUNCIL MEETS WEDNESDAY 3rd DECEMBER
On the agenda will be the CLR proposal. To date we have had no official response from WTC on their leaflet, and we will be speaking at the meeting on this. We hope that with the new facts, and on reflection of their inaccurate leaflet, that your elected members will take the time to read all the facts, and with the overwhelming evidence that Shores is a much better solution for Witney, will publicly endorse this, or at the very least give us a detailed account as to why they have been backing the white elephant that is the CLR. Members of the public are welcome to attend the meeting that starts at 7pm in the WTC offices in Market Square...if you are planning to come, please let us know so that we can give them accurate numbers....over 30 members of the public will mean that they will need to relocate the meeting to the Corn Exchange.
THERE'S LOTS YOU CAN DO TO HELP- OVER THE NEXT 3 MONTHS WE NEED YOUR FULL SUPPORT!
Tell Everyone! We are greatly encouraged by the 100s of people who have already signed up to show their support BUT we need to get as many people in Witney involved with this. If you can tell as many people as possible, friends, neighbours, work colleagues about what is going on and encourage them to sign up to either our mailing list (me@witneyfirst.com) or the facebook, then we can really tell our “elected councillors” how we feel and that they have a personal responsibility to act for the interest of Witney and its’ residents.
UP COMING MEETINGS
West Oxfordshire District Council have yet to comment on OCCs planning application. Also they are still debating whether to even bother to go and look at the site where the road would run! Tell them how you feel! Email mailto:phil.shaw@westoxon.gov.uk. . They are meeting Monday 17th about the site visit, and then on the whole planning application on December 15th.
LETTERS OF OBJECTION
Although the official deadline for letters has now past, OCC say they will accept any more that come in until the end of November. The Council are not due to make a planning decision until January 2009- so if you have not already sent a letter in, please do it now! Please also invite other members of your household to, your friends, neighbours and work colleagues...
To make it as easy as possible for you, the Campaign to Protect Rural England have created a simple form you can post or email to the Council. You can download this here.
Please either print and send to the planners at Oxford County Council Direct (to John Hamilton, OCC, Speedwell St, OX1 1NE) or you can email it FAO John Hamilton via planning@oxfordshire.gov.uk
In either case please either copy us on the email our address being Cogges@witneyfirst.com , or let us know you have sent your letter so we can keep a tally of numbers.
SPREAD THE WORD
We are only a small team behind this campaign, and if now you have read the facts on the site, believe like we do that this is an absurd scheme to try and push through, please tell everyone you know! Please direct them to this website where they can read the facts for themselves. And please encourage them to sign up to our mailing list and/ or facebook so that we can communicate to you all directly as we move the campaign forward.
