The next step in the campaign is now ready and we need your help
Following the successful objection to the Compulsory Purchase Order application last December, where The Secretary of State for Transport received 89 or your written objections
Oxfordshire County Council have issued their Notice of intention to issue a Certificate under section 19(1)(a) to the Acquisition of Land Act 1981, relating to the A4095 Cogges Link Road CPO Order 2010.
This application indicates that the area of land chosen to replace that part of the Hay Meadow that would be built on is situated south of Cogges, wedged between the A40, the CLR and the east bank of the River Windrush. (Map 1) It would be overlooked by both these busy roads and would therefore suffer from noise and fumes. It certainly would not be a pleasant and tranquil meadow. It also shows that the Eton Close play area will be closed and replaced by a new play area at the northern end of Cogges, sandwiched between the CLR and Cogges Hill Rd. We feel that on child safety and accessibility reasons, this is a totally unsuitable alternative. (Map 2)
Formally objecting to these orders (by March 31st 2011 absolute latest) will demonstrate to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government that there is strong local public opinion against this scheme. Later this year there will be a Public Inquiry into the CLR which we will be attending and using your objections to strengthen our case against this highly unpopular scheme. The public are also encouraged to attend the Public Inquiry. (Date yet to be announced)
Here is what we would like you to do -
1. Read our list of suggested reasons why you object to the CLR, and pick the ones you feel strongest about. Use as few or as many as you like.
2. Compose a brief letter, writing in your own words the reasons why you object, adding any additional material that you think reinforces those reasons, but in outline form. You do not need to write a long and fully formed argument!
3. Paste your letter onto the template letterhead we have provided, not forgetting to include your full name, address and postcode, date and sign it.
4. Post it to the Secretary of State at the address on the template letterhead, with a copy of your letter emailed to us at notocoggeslinkroad@wyntec.co.uk
Please send this to arrive no later than Thursday, March 31st, 2011.
Please ask your neighbours and friends to write as well, simply forward this email to them as soon as possible.
That is all you need to do in order to really help this campaign!
Please DO IT NOW!
Deadline is March 31st LATEST!!
Thank you again for your support.
